Groundcover abundance and composition

Vegetative and non-vegatative groundcover: Vegetative cover refers to living organisms on the ground (e.g. trees, grass); groundcover often also includes non-vegetative components (e.g. rock, rubble, soil) of the landscape. Abundance describes the amount of vegetative and non-vegetative cover types or on the ground whereas composition describes the combination of these different cover types at a predefined surface area.

With groundcover field data collection the composition and abundance of the features that are making up the ground surface is determined.
