Landsat TM, ETM and MS time series

Icelandic eruption sequence
The Landsat satellite family has been collecting a global coverage of images since 1972. This type of time-series archive is invaluable for both terrestrial and coastal/marine mapping applications; allowing baseline assessments of resources, monitoring how they have changed in the past, their current state, and modelling applications to predict how resources may change in the future. The animation above is a compilation of Landsat Imagery (MSS, TM and ETM+) over the South-east Queensland/Moreton Bay region from 1972-2008 Click to animate.

This imagery is being used in a PhD project (M. Lyons, S. Phinn, C. Roelfsema) where land cover in South-east Queensland and seagrass cover in Moreton Bay are being mapped on over 60 images between 1972-2010.
