Refinements and smoothing operations
Per-pixel classification routines produce:
- Error
- Excessive spatial detail i.e., salt and pepper effect of individual pixels
Solution is to "smooth" the image map. Remove "outlier" pixels that are surrounded by a spatially contiguous class of different cover type
