Monitoring clouds and rainfall

The following images are a time series of satellite remote sensing images of atmosphere used in a project to monitor clouds and rainfall around Bundaberg in Central Queensland in 2008. The image sequence is two days, 11th and 12th January 2008. The MODerate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) is installed on two satellites – Terra overflew the area mid-morning and Aqua overflew early afternoon. The Tropical Rainfall Measurement Mission (TRMM) as an amalgamation of several image data sources including satellite rain radars – it provides three hourly accumulated rainfall.
