and table sequence
The text
and table sequence is driven by establishing your mapping
needs and the environment you are working in. A series of
separate steps (steps 1-5 below) link to separate tables that
let you determine if your application is feasible, how you
would use remotely sensed data, and contacts to experts who
can help you with the project.
If you
have not already filled in the table
of mapping needs, you can do so here. This information
will be used to drive the processes outlined below.
To find
out how remote sensing works (so you can understand the detail
presented in the toolkit and other discussions of remote sensing
in your discipline area), go to Coastal-Marine
Remote Sensing Help.
- Can
I use remote sensing for my mapping and monitoring needs
in a coastal environment?
Work out if your mapping/monitoring requirement has already
been implemented using remote sensing data, how it compares
to field techniques and what is the indicative cost.
- What
are the commercially available remotely sensed data dimensions
and sources? (
108KB)
A listing of the commercially available remote sensors of
their: data type, sensor (platform), spatial scale, extent
(GRE), resolution (spectral & radiometric & temporal),
frequence (time of day), source/cost and archive.
- How
do I use remote sensing for work in coastal environments?
(
206KB)
Inspect a worked sequence of how to use remote sensing to
address your requirements, including: data to buy, how to
process, hardware and software and personnel, output product,
who can do this, use of field data and indicative costs.
- What
are the coastal remote sensing mapping capabilities?
(
205KB)
Determine your mapping and monitoring options when you know
which environmental variable you want to map and visa versa
using the Coastal Remote Sensing Mapping Capability Matrix.
- Who
could I contact for expert advice on remote sensing in coastal
environments?
For 'feasible' applications, explain what additional research
is necessary to make the application operational.
- Where
to find additional technical material to support my application?
Refer to the list of links to detailed on-line and personal
contacts for how to do this.
