How to use the toolkit

The toolkit is presented in a format that assumes you want to work out how to map or monitor a part of the coastal-marine environment. A flowchart is provided for this site.
It is essential that you first be aware of your mapping needs – this is done by completing a table of mapping needs. This will help you select the most appropriate data and technique to use for your application.
Once you have completed the table, you can use two options to explore how remote sensing can be used for mapping and monitoring your coastal environment:
Graphic sequence: This sequence links the environmental variable to be mapped and the type of environment to suitable data sets and processing techniques.

Text and table sequence: This consists of a linked series of tables detailing the information used to support the graphically driven sequence. It guides you through a standard set of questions that would be used to determine the environmental variables to be mapped, and the suitable remotely-sensed data sets and mapping procedures.
